The VT-01 Transponder system consists of operating unit with integrated pressure sensor and main unit. The device can be installed and used as one-block-system or two-block-system with an exchange frame. An external “energy-devouring altitude encoder is made superfluous by the integrated pressure sensor. The 24-bit Mode-S address and the aircraft registration are memorised in the operating unit.
Version 1: One-Block System
Operating unit and main unit are put on top of each other and screwed together. This whole system is then installed in the instrument panel. The rear of the device comprises connectors for static pressure, power, data interface and the antenna.
Version 2: Two-Block System with exchange frame
The main unit is, in difference to installation version 1, installed in an exchange frame. This enables a quick change of the main unit from one aircraft to the other. The operating unit that remains in the aircraft supplies the main unit with power and data (altitude encoding information, 24-bit Mode-S address and aircraft registration) when operating. This way a club’s fleet can be equipped with transponders step-by-step and up to the very special needs. The potential to save money is enormous (see calculation example).
