The electronic compensation of LXNAV, as programmed in the LX90xx, LX80xx or S10/100, is now so perfect that many top pilots fly without a mechanical variometer and a classic TEK probe. As seen here on the photos of the EB 29 DR.

The length of 44cm is perfectly sufficient and the danger of breaking off the probe has become much less!

Part of the offered probes were measured within a degree thesis ("The Analysis & Development of Total Energy Probes") at Delft technical university wind channel, supervised by aerodynamics engineer Prof. Loek Bormans. Focus was on finding the coefficient and examine the pitch and yaw sensitivity. The rating was outstanding.
