PLBs replace the ELT within EASA. They are worn on the person, e.g. on the parachute, and registered to a person.

UK, Germany EU and EASA

The registration of PLBs is currently not possible in Germany and many other EU countries. However, the registration in Great Britain is possible without residence and the fact that it is legal has been verified by various organisations.

To ensure maximum chance of survival, the rescueME PLB1 offers three ways to transmit or identify your location in an emergency:

• 406 MHz (satellite)
• 121.5 kHz (homing signal)
• High intensity LED flash (homing)

The rescueMe PLB1 from Ocean Signal can be easily attached to a lifejacket or belt so that it is always ready for use. The antenna is simply pulled out when in use. It can be operated with just one hand in most situations. A cover protects the activation button and prevents accidental triggering.

Whether at sea or on land, the rescueMe PLB1 gives the peace of mind that rescue teams worldwide can be notified at the touch of a button.

Once the rescueMe PLB1 is activated, your position and a unique identifier are sent via satellite to a ground station (RCC). The RCC in turn notifies the relevant emergency services of the emergency and also keeps them informed of your current position.

The rescueME PLB1 also has a homing signal on 121.5 kHz, which is used by the rescue services on site to take bearings. The extremely bright LED flash light also ensures that you are seen well at night.
